THELEICO celebrates 100 years grinding experience
THELEICO in Meschede is celebrating 100 years of expertise in manufacturing of grinding wheels. The current company was founded back in 1880 by Johann Theodor Leisse. At that time, the company produced charcoal for batteries, which was processed into black flour, bleaching coal and other products. After World War I, the market for wood and charcoal products became increasingly difficult due to international competition and new technologies. Therefore the company decided to manufacture a new product: vitrified bonded grinding wheels.
On 1924, THELEICO put the new grinding wheel factory into operation and taking this ocassion to celebrate 100 years of experience. “From our humble beginnings as a small craft business, we have not only developed into a technological market leader in the abrasives industries in Germany, but also into a globally recognized manufacturer of precision grinding tools,” reports Gerd König - Managing Director. “Every era of our company has been characterized by innovation, growth and the tireless efforts of our dedicated employees. We are very proud and excited to carry on the vision, values and work ethic of Theodor Leisse.
